ISPO, which will be held from January 29th to February 1st 2012 at the New Munich Trade Fair, is again announcing a substantial growth in the number of exhibitor registrations and reserved exhibit space. Compared with the last edition in February 2011, the number of registered exhibitors has risen by 2.8 percent and the exhibit space has increased by 3.2 percent.
In its position as a leading international sports business platform and the only multi-segment trade show to date, ISPO Munich offers an unprecedented overview of the entire selection of sporting goods on offer. At this year's event the Outdoor segment alone will cover all its facets in three exhibit halls as well as the Eastern entrance area. ISPOvision will again be hosting premium snowwear and outerwear brands like Giorgio Armani, Girbaud Actlife, Napapijri, Peak Performance, J.Lindeberg, Kjus, Mountain Force and Toni Sailer. Among the most interesting new exhibitors will be Li Ning, one of the biggest chinese sports brands, which is coming back to ISPO after several years of absence. Among other newcomers are X Bionic X-Technology and Nixon.
The economic situation for the winter sports industry is difficult. Due to the lack of snow, the the winter season experienced a rough start. Inter Sport International announced that for Europe, sports retailer turnover fell about 3% to 38.2 million Euro. The winter sports segment in particular lost about 25% and winter apparel about 15%. The Outdoor segment remained stable and at a high level. Running and walking grew about 10%.
