Gen Art, the organization centered on promoting emerging talent in fashion, film, music and visual arts, has announced its 25 finalists for its 11th Annual Style International Design Competition.

The finalists, who were selected from over 1,000 worldwide submissions, are the most diverse group in the competition’s history. Contestants, which were chosen by a selection committee of editors, buyers and stylists, will travel from Turkey, Germany, Australia, Israel, the UK and Taiwan, and some from across the United States, to compete in New York City on Dec. 2.

This year will mark the first year where the Styles Fashion Finalists will be showcased on live model vignettes and the awards will be presented at the Gen Art’s Annual Shop NYC event. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to preview 50 emerging designers that will be selling their designs and accessories on location.

"We are thrilled to create a showcase for the Styles 2009 finalists that will provide them with exposure and a platform for recognition before more than 1,000 of members of the fashion industry, press and tastemaker consumers,” said Gen Art’s CEO, Ian Gerard.

Throughout the 10 years that Gen Art has held the competition, it has helped to launch the careers of designers such as Peter Som, Rodarte, Duckie Brown and Obedient Sons. The judging panel, which has ranged from people such as Tim Gunn, Patricia Fields and Diane Von Furstenburg in the past, will be announced the last week of November.
