After the successful premiere of the new trade fair concept in July, GDS – Global Destination for Shoes & Accessories, is holding its first winter edition from 4 to 6 February. About 900 brands will be showcasing their collections for the 2015/16 autumn/winter season.

For this edition GDS fair developed its concept, including an open day for the consumers. The new key trend area “Richtig Wichtig” in hall 7.0 is the design attack of Eddi Mackowiak. He developed a new concept for the trend area including a consumer day on February 5, from 12 noon to 8 pm. Under the theme “Life in Paris” all kind of show activities and live acts including BMX Show will happen. At vintage market sneakers, apparel and accessories from the 40s to the 90s will be presented. New is also the “Design Trendsetters”. 20 international designers will present their collections in the Studio segment on 1,000 m². The designers are selected by an international jury. “Idea of the initiative is to create key impulses and promote excellence. We see this as our motivation to surprise our visitors at the forthcoming GDS”, says GDS director Kirsten Deutelmoser.

In addition, delicacy food will become a part of the shoe world. Under the slogan “Food is the New Fashion” semi-luxury food concepts will be integrated along the Highlight Route in the Highstreet show section. In the same area visitors can discover successful shop window designs of design students from Düsseldorf Polytechnic. More than 100 fashion bloggers will show their ideas at the FashionBloggerCafé including a runway show.

The hall segmentation features the three major theme worlds Studio, Highstreet and Pop Up. Each theme world has its own cosmos. Highstreet offers a wide range of brands such as newcomers Crocs, Darkwood, Piranha and Via Vai plus bags from Poodlebag or Tom Tailor and also shows familiar names like Birkenstock, Camel Active, Gat Footwear, Marc O´Polo or Skechers. In the Pop Up – the urban groove for streetwear and young innovative collections, new brands include Cat Footwear, Cruyff Classic or Treton. Studio shows the premium class with high quality brands such as Diesel, Ludwig Reiter or OXS.
