Since its launch with about 80 labels Copenhagen's Gallery fashion fair has evolved into a well-edited showcase of more than 200 labels and upcoming designers mainly from Scandinavia. Next September the concept of Gallery will make its first appearance in Paris. Gallery CEO Christian Gregersen has planned its debut for September 2010. “We want to start the Gallery project for the first time in Paris on a 3,000- to 6,000-sq.-meter location that is not fixed yet. The direction will be much more international but with a strong focus on the core — Scandinavian designers,” he explains. Gregersen plans to grow the international scope of the fair in terms of new buyers from Europe and the US, as well as new designers and labels for exhibitors, but does not fear the possibility of cannibalizing the Copenhagen show. “I don’t think the spin-off will mess with Copenhagen as we get about 90% buyers from northern Europe here. I think we can offer a new way of quality and professional working as well as reach out to the international buyers,” he says.
