From a Saxony-based multi-brand store to the Italian premium streetwear institution Stone Island: SPORTSWEAR INTERNATIONAL’s German sister publication TextilWirtschaft has once again awarded outstanding stakeholders of the local and international fashion business in their ‘Forum’ ceremony at the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg.

The judging panel, composed of 13 industry experts, annually awards people and companies who have made a meaningful impact on the market with their unusual and outstanding concepts.

One of the winners is the Cologne-based streetwear and sneakers retail chain Snipes. Founded in 1998 by Sven Voth, the on- and offline retailer has managed to become a brand by itself – also thanks to international brand ambassadors reaching from basketballer Dennis Schröder to rapper Chris Brown.

Also Carlo Rivetti got an award for his outstanding performance with the family-owned Stone Island brand over the past two decades. With its innovative take on fabrics, treatments and especially surfaces, Stone Island is creating products in the field of premium streetwear that’s without comparison, according to the judges. Top quality and a careful and selected distribution are doing the rest in establishing the brand as a leader in its field.

Mr Porterthe British high fashion online retailer, is another Forum winner. The judges were especially impressed by the fast pace in which the pure player turned itself into a brand: Within only five years, Mr Porter’s owners and managers have created a male counterpart to the Net-A-Porter shop thanks to an appealing mix of e-commerce, fashion magazine and information platform about the latest menswear must-haves. Toby Bateman, managing director at Mr Porter, was there to accept the prize.

Finally, TextilWirtschaft awarded the German multi-brand retailer Fischer - for the second time already. Fischer is running stores in numerous East-German cities and already received a prize in 1994. According to the judges, Ulrich Fischer, who now runs the company in the sixth generation, has created a unique offer and retail staging by generally doing without shop-in-shop concepts and focusing on personal service.

After the glamorous award celebration on Wednesday night, TextilWirtschaft’s 58th Forum was continued with a daytime summit at the Schwetzinger Schloss on Thursday, where national and international experts discussed trends such as digitalization and individualization under the headline “Changing times – fashion markets in between evolution and revolution”.
