Fred Perry and Raf Simons have confirmed their second collaboration for S/S 09. “The collection came about quite naturally, probably because we share the same spirit and mind. Quality is very important for me and the Fred Perry quality is definitely outstanding,” said Simons who took an entirely different tack from his previous all black fall collection. Inspired by West African culture, the 25-piece collection includes natural fabrics and vibrant colors such as copper, earth orange, royal blue and honey on familiar Simons silhouettes, including darted shirts, double-layer mesh sleeveless tennis shirts and short-sleeve turtlenecks. Two keys item for the season, however, might be a new slip-on loafer with tassels in navy and burnt red and a royal blue Harrington jacket. The 30-leaf laurel from the 1960s, meanwhile, continues to appear exclusively on Simons’ products.
