The seventh edition of BUYBRAND, the International Franchising and Other Business Possibilities Exhibition, was held on Sept. 22-24 on the Crocus Expo fairgrounds in Moscow. Amid the current economic downturn that has affected Russia more than other Western countries, due to the devaluation of the Russian ruble, market experts consider the franchising business model one of the recipes for survival for small and medium enterprises. “The financial crisis pushed out of the market the non-effective and dishonest franchisors. The changes occurred give us hope that franchising in Russia will continue to grow, also in quality,” said Yekaterina Soyak, General Manager of EMTG, organizer of BUYBRAND. More than 140 strong and effective business concepts from 25 countries, including numerous apparel and footwear retail brands, were unveiled to over 4,800 show visitors. The Business Program of the exhibition also attracted much attention, while the best franchising systems of the year were awarded the “Brand of the Year 2009” prize. The 8th edition of BUYBRAND will run Sept. 14-16, 2010 on the Expo fairgrounds once again.
