Activewear brand Fila officially served its new US Open Licensed Tennis Collection at Bloomingdale’s SoHo last night.

Inspired by the famous New York-based tennis event, the collection of apparel and footwear for men and women features performance capabilities, technical fabrics such as Meryl Spring Spandex and micropolys, bright colors, retro ’60s and ’70s design influences and a signature symbol, the US Open flaming ball.

Tennis stars Jennifer Capriati, Kim Clijsters and Rainer Schuettler will wear the collection on court at the US Open later this month.

The collection is sold at Bloomingdale’s (the line’s "Official Retail Destination") and at tennis specialty and sporting goods retailers throughout the United States. The line is also sold on Fila’s e-commerce site, www.fila.com.

The collection’s retail price points range from $36 for a men’s crew neck shirt to $130 for a warm-up suit.

The launch party, held on the third floor of Bloomingdale’s new downtown outpost, featured an appearance by Clijsters, music by top DJ Rich Medina and a sweepstakes to win a tickets to the US Open and Fila merchandise.

Fila, a division of Sports Brands International, is headquartered in Sparks, Maryland. It has designed the uniforms for the US Open’s ball persons, line persons and chair umpires for the last 22 years.
