The continuing loss of multi-brand footwear retailers in Spain is, according to footwear and leather goods fair Modacalzado and Iberpiel, one of the reasons for the decline of visitors at this year’s March edition. With only 14.557 trade visitors - 15% less than in the previous winter edition - the fair closed its doors on 9 March. As another reason the organizers quote the parliamentary election that coincided with the last day of the show.

The buyers in attendance, of which18 % were from abroad, were content to see the Autumn Winter 08-09 collections of 423 Spanish and 117 international footwear brands, including: Chie Mihara, Paco Gil, Ras, Magrit and Alima and accessories from Superga, Converse and O'Neill.

The next Modacalzado and Iberpiel will take place from 25 to 27 September, again in the halls of Feria de Madrid.
