Devergo, denim and sportswear brand from Budapest/Hungary, just started an initiative to bring fresh design impulses to its collection: a competition for fashion students and young designers, organized by Devergo, will run until end of February.

For the winter 2012-13 collection, newcomers can upload their designs either for a complete men’s or women’s outfit with a total look including jacket, sweatshirt, shirt, T-shirt, pants, shoes, accessories etc.; or a line of five to six footwear models on one theme for men or women to the Devergo website ( Of course, participants can also upload their designs in all categories.

Devergo chief, Thomas Psarogiannis, has a certain focus for the designs in mind: “The most important request for this collection would be to use new intelligent fabrics, for example material that protects people against the radiation of mobile phones“.

The best three of all entries will be awarded with cash prizes between €3,000 and €5,000; a contract with the Devergo design team will go to the winner, and his or her looks will be exhibited at this July’s edition of Bread & butter. There is also the chance for the second and third winner to collaborate with the Devergo design team in the future. “It is important to keep introducing young new talent to design and to attract good people,” says Psarogiannis. ”After all, we don’t want to be walking in place; we want to develop our collection further and present it at an international level.”
