Finding new talents is getting harder every day. And besides that the support and guidance of young professionals is getting more and more important – for smaller companies as well as for huge stock exchange-listed enterprises. This is the reason why Frankfurt-based initiative mentoring4u has initiated the “Deutscher Mentorentag” which took place now in Frankfurt for the first time on Wednesday. Organizers had invited business people, politicians, economy and human resources experts to discuss ways to find and support young professionals. The event showed how important it is to keep in close touch with young professionals, to work with mentors and coaches. All participants underlined the important role of education in the parents’ house and at school.

Speakers as well as the audience discussed their difficulties to deal with changes of society and business. “The challenge is to maintain the standards we have, while the standards of job applicants are continuously decreasing,” Silke Tegenkamp from DB Mobility Logistics AG in Frankfurt, said. Josef A. Lederer of Schenker Deutschland GmbH added: “We go into schools to find young talents there. It is inconvenient but necessary, because the youngsters are the capital of tomorrow.”

The second edition of “Deutscher Mentorentag” will take place in 2012.
