Every year, the German Trade Association (HDE) names retailers with the most outstanding store concepts. This year, its Stores of the Year 2010 award in the category of fashion went to Desigual’s store in Berlin. The jury rewarded the store for its outstanding level of innovation, benefit to customers, added value, experience value, business definition and USP. The 1,200-sq.-meter store covers two floors, with products presented in a dramatic way: clotheslines as product holders, with gaudy colors and plants. The concept was developed by the retail designer specialist Gruschwitz in Gröbenzell near Munich. Desigual currently operates 157 stores in 65 countries and has 450 corners and shop-in-shops. Overall, Desigual products are distributed in 4,500 multibrand stores worldwide.
