Dallas Market Center (www.dallasmarketcenter.com) is augmenting its contemporary profile. The world’s largest wholesale resource has announced plans to expand its contemporary venue on the 15th floor of the FashionCenterDallas by 7,000 sq ft. The finished contemporary space will occupy more than 125,000 sq ft.

Plans were put into effect largely in response to a growing demand for both permanent and temporary contemporary space at the Center. Hosting more contemporary brands than any other market outside the west coast, FashionCenterDallas is home to brands ranging from Walter, Joystick, True Religion and Custo Barcelona to AG Adriano Goldschmied, 7 for all Mankind, Le Tigre, Splendid and Sacred Blue.

“Expanding our marketplace to allow for more contemporary showrooms is a logical step based upon demand,” says Cindy Morris, COO of Dallas Market Center. “Contemporary is essential for retailers who are looking to stay ahead of the competition, and we welcome the chance to enhance our reputation as the marketplace offering buyers a premier selection.”

Organizers expect the space to be completed in time for the next Women’s and Children’s Apparel and Accessories Market, taking place on August 18 through Aug 21.

Open since March 2004, FashionCenterDallas showcases comprehensive collections of apparel, fashion accessories and jewelry for women, men and children sorted into “neighborhoods” of similar product. The Center has been credited in recent years with attracting more than 200,000 retail buyers from all 50 states and 84 countries to Dallas, with estimated wholesale transactions totalling over $7.5 billion.
