The Denim Boardshort is available for s/s 2018 and can be purchased in O'Neill stores, through selected European stores and online at € 99.99. It is made with the fast-drying, lightweight , four-way stretch, patented Isko Blue Skin 8 oz. denim fabric.

The Denim Boardshort has a relaxed silhouette and delivers unrestricted mobility. It is 50% lighter than a traditional jeans fabric and is water repellent thanks to the O’Neill Hyperdry treatment applied to the material during the production phase. The treated fabric, which doesn’t absorb water, remains soft and breathable both in and outside of the water and makes the short dry extremely fast. Nor does it change shape while surfing.

“This boardshort collaboration originates from two intense year experimentation of trials and errors,” said Jan Lindeboom, category manager surf & snow performance, underlining that O’Neill European office and Isko had been in contact for a long time and wanted to collaborate. “We discovered we have the same innovation mindset and wanted to try some new project together. We thought that denim is worn by every surfer out of the water. So why not make them wear it while they are in the water?"

Similarly Isko liked the challenge. “Although we are different, we are affected by the same condition–the pioneer syndrome,” added Fabio Di Liberto, Isko’s brand director. “Like in every innovation process, we made various trials and errors as no one had ever done boardshorts like these, though we achieved this result thanks to our strong commitment to experimenting new ways forward, tapping into our R&D centers to develop a special version of our patented fabric Isko Blue Skin in the right weight and with a special laser treatment.”

Isko didn’t sign any exclusivity agreement for the use of the Blue Skin technology even though O’Neill is the first one to use it as part of this partnership.
