Carhartt WIP has today, Friday June 21st 2013, re-opened its Cologne-based flagship store in a new location.
Carhartt has been running a store on Cologne’s popular Ehrenstraße since December 2000. The new flagship store has relocated a few buildings down the road at Ehrenstraße 66, former home to the multi-brand store Vibes.
The 450sqm ground level sales area hosts Carhartt’s mens and womenswear collections, as well as a small selection of the upmarket Carhartt WIP Heritage Line. The interior has been completely redesigned by Italian Andrea Caputo Studios. The shop has an industrial charm and incorporates vintage wood and neon letterings by artist Pietro Sanguinetti.
During the opening night, Marcus Worgull will play a DJ set in-store and a limited Carhartt WIP t-shirt edition showing Cologne’s city arms will be launched.
After new branches in Stuttgart, Lille, Milan, Zurich (x 2), Bordeaux, Saragossa, Düsseldorf, Moscow, Paris, Lyon and Coventry, the new store in Cologne is the 13th store opened by Carhartt WIP in Europe within the space of a year. In total, Carhartt Work In Progress is available through 50 own shops and more than 2,500 Points of Sale worldwide.
