Coccinelle has extended its collaboration with Barbara Hulanicki, the iconic designer from the sixties and seventies. The announcement follows the international launch last winter of the first capsule collection of Coccinelle by Barbara Hulanicki produced in limited edition and made in Italy. The focus for S/S 2009 is on chic and easy lines and proportion. A shopping bag is offered in three different styles—oversized and practical, a medium-sized style and a flat mini version—with a clutch and a weekend bag, available in two versions, completing the offer. Materials are casual and light: nylon trimmed with glossy naplack and treated canvas with leather trims. The linear design of the new Coccinelle by Barbara Hulanicki bags also play up the sophisticated and Biba-like Art Deco print as a tribute to the boutique that Hulanicki opened in 1964 in London’s Kensington High Street, a temple of style for groundbreaking musicians and artists of the time, including Bianca and Mick Jagger, Twiggy, Cher and David Bowie. There’s even a special rainbow design combining an exciting mix of color and flashy contrasts for the nylon—cornflower blue and yellow, apple green and lime, electric blue and fuchsia—with rich and harmonious combinations for the canvas, including coffee and orange, navy and cream, and lilac and sky blue. Studio Zeta, a Milan-based distribution agency has been chosen to take care of the select distribution of this international project. Styles retail for approximately €169-199 and the new collection will be available in select Coccinelle boutiques and multibrand stores worldwide.
