Mergers of accessories companies could be the next big trend. Established in July but only formally announced at Milano Unica, the Fashion Luxury Fasteners Group brings together Cobra, the Italian button and high-tech fastening manufacturer, Meras, another Italian zipper manufacturer, and Riri, the storied Swiss zipper manufacturer. The new holding company is 58% owned by Sofipa and the remainder by the previous owners of the three companies, and is currently managed by CEO Riccardo Candotti, founder of Cobra. The group aims to share its strengths and energies and further increase its worldwide presence. FLF will close 2008 with a turnover of €80 million and could see a turnover of €100 million next year.
