The Generalitat de Catalunya, the autonomous government of Catalonia, has launched a new fashion incubator called Projecte Bressol to helping emerging designers.

As of January of this year through 2010 the region is offering support to ten designers and their fledgling brands. The first results were unveiled at Bread & Butter Barcelona at the Projecte Bressol stand, where the young talents presented their S/S 09 collections. The styles were concurrently on exhibit at the shop Gratacós.

The plan is now to promote the project at fashion week 080 Barcelona and at a pop-up showroom in Barcelona and Madrid.

A team of fashion business experts is helping the up-and-coming contingent of designers to grow their brands in the national and international markets. The designers are even provided with their own working space and machinery at a 4,000-sq.-meter ice factory called “La Siberia” in Barcelona, along with a network of suppliers, sewing workshops, agents and commercial showrooms.

Projecte Bressol falls under the larger Pla de Dinamització de la Moda Catalana initiative, which was designed to bring fresh air into the Spanish textile and fashion sector.
