Canadian specialty retailer Over the Rainbow has unveiled a new logo that will be featured on all in-store and press materials for one full year. The logo came via an open call to graphic designers to create a commemorative 35th anniversary logo embodying the history and impact of the retailer. “This anniversary not only means something to us at the store, but also the community who has grown-up in their jeans from our store. We wanted to draw on that inspiration,” said company founder Joel Carman, who continues to operate the cult store as a family-run business in trendy Yorkville. OTR received 25 submissions from students, amateur and professional designers, but in the end it was Benjamin M. Bialas of Benjamin Communications, Inc., who won the coveted $500 shopping spree and opportunity to have his logo featured in the retailer’s upcoming anniversary campaign. A special celebration event is to follow this August.
