In two weeks Milan’s city center will be one big party for the week for the furniture fair Salone del Mobile, with events and showrooms popping up everywhere. Fashion house Trussardi ( will be presenting The Unexpected Garden, a new outdoor extension on Piazzetta Ferrari which is the result of a collaboration between the architecture studio Carlo Ratti e Associati and botanic artist Patrick Blanc, who have co-designed an all-crystal veranda crowned with a green tapestry of 100sqm.

The vertical garden – or le mur végétal – made by Patrick Blanc, harnesses hydrophonic cultivation to grow plant species on walls without soil. An eco-sustainable idea, the vertical garden optimizes the thermal insulation of the buildings on which it is installed, as well as improving air quality by filtering pollution and generating oxygen.
