Yesterday, Karl-Heinz Müller, director of German trend fashion fair Bread & butter, officially confirmed his plans to expand with his concept to Spain. “Yes, the first international event will take place in Barcelona,” Müller announced.

Therefore he invited 70 potential exhibitors, such as Edwin’s Mille Monferin and Aem’kei’s Markus Klosseck to Spain last week to present the location and his ideas behind Eurovision Bread & Butter. The response was quite optimistic so far, concluded Müller, although he admitted to have “nothing in writing yet.”

The event will take place from July 8-10 in the Fiera Barcelona, the old fair building in the center of the city. There, Müller can provide a total space of 90,000 sq. meters (the Berlin facilities provided 50,000 sq. meters).

He is sticking to the idea to install the international concept as a seasonal kick-off and marketing platform with fashion shows and parties rather than a place to write orders. With the Barcelona event Müller wants to attract a great number of both international exhibitors and vistors, especially from the USA.

Following the Olympic Game idea the location for the international Bread & butter will change every season and will move to another European city. For Winter Müller has Dublin or Vienna in mind. “Or why not rent a part of the beach on Ibiza?” he asked.

As a consequence of the new Eurovision Bread & Butter, her said the Berlin fair will become smaller: “We might only fill the Siemens Kabelwerk with a nice mixture of brands, all in smaller booths.“

Berlin Bread & butter will then tend to become more of a regional order place. “We don’t want to drop the German market. But instead of one we have to take care of two babies now.“ – Sabine Kühnl, German Bureau Chief
