Uniqlo, the brand that has taken the world by storm with affordable basics has appointed Christophe Lemaire as artistic director of a new clothing line called Uniqlo U, which will launch worldwide from fall/winter 2016. The collection will be unveiled in Paris in early July.

Lemaire is no stranger to Uniqlo, as he embarked on an on-going partnership with the brand back in 2015, resulting in two collections so far (fall/winter 2015 and spring/summer 2016).

The designer will be based at Uniqlo’s new R&D center in Paris, a product design unit that also collects information on local fashion trends, lifestyles and new materials.

Besides running his eponymous label, Lemaire has been artistic director at Lacoste and Hermès in the past.
