Starting its one-day discount campaign Prime Day for the first time on July 15, Amazon sold 398 items per second and a total of 34.4 million items. The company sold more units on Prime Day than Black Friday 2014 -a 24h sales campaign with great deals in electronics, video games and clothing. The worldwide order growth increased 266 percent over the same day last year.

Due to Amazon’s 20th birthday, members of the fee-based premium service Amazon Prime were offered special short-term bargains. Top sellers in Austria and Germany were Crocs Sandals, customers from the UK, Spain and Italy mostly bought electric devices like keyboards and notebooks. In addition, Amazon offered bargains in the fashion and apparel segment such as Arqueonautas, Desigual, Esprit, G-Star and Jack & Jones.
