International ecommerce platform Amazon has recently opened the doors of its first European fashion photography studio in Shoreditch, London. The new facilities comprise 22 individual photography bays, an editorial suite, video editing units and office space for Amazon’s fashion team. The company expects to capture more than 500,000 images each year at the studio and apart from the 35 new permanent roles already created; up to 75 might be brought in to support seasonal demand.

Sergio Bucher, vice president of Amazon Fashion EU, in regard of the launch: “Our aim is to make Amazon the best place to buy fashion online […] our new studio will enable us to produce more than half a million images a year as our fashion business continues to grow.”

Amazon’s fashion business is one of the fastest growing categories in Europe. The company has already dedicated fashion stores on its UK, France, Italy and Spain websites. Within the platform’s brand portfolio are names such as Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s and Lacoste. Between 1st April and 30 June this year, it has sold more than 30 million fashion products across Europe.

The official inauguration took place last July 23. Among the guests were Suki Waterhouse, Amazon’s Fashion Europe brand ambassador for fall 15, and DJ Jack Guinness.
