Asics unveiled on October 7 the world’s largest Lite-Brite picture at Splashlight Studios in New York City. Guinness World Records representative Danny Girton, Jr. was on hand to present the athletic brand with a certificate validating the new record. Lite-Brite is the iconic Hasbro toy that allows folks to create illuminated works of art made from colorful pegs inserted into paper templates on a lighted background. The former Guinness World Record for the largest Lite-Brite picture measured 4 ft. 9.25 in. by 9 ft. 9.5 in. and was constructed with 124,418 pegs. Asics’ picture, which features the Gel-Lyte III shoe from the sport fusion “Sportstyle” collection, stands at 11 ft. by 15 ft, with over 300,000 original-sized pegs. The Lite-Brite picture goes on tour for the next five months to major music events and designer footwear boutiques.
