"If you can’t beat em, join em," is the old adage. And that’s exactly what 7th on Sixth, the New York-based producers of Mercedes-Benz Shows LA, and Smashbox Studios, the Los Angeles-based producers of smashboxstudiosfashionweek, have done.

The two announced last week that they have joined forces to produce the next Los Angeles Fashion Week.

The event, now called Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios (www.mbshowsla.com), will no longer cause conflicting show schedules due to separate and distant venues as in past seasons. Instead all shows will take place at Smashbox’s Culver City studios from March 29 to April 2.

In the past, Mercedes-Benz Shows LA staged shows at The Standard hotel in downtown LA while the Smashbox Studios shows were held nearly ten miles away in Culver City.

The announcement was made in New York during Olympus Fashion Week by Fern Mallis, 7th on Sixth’s executive director, and Davis Factor, Smashbox Studio’s chief creative officer.

Mallis said they expect to produce 35 to 40 shows in LA during the four-day event.
