After long and careful consideration, the summer edition of German bodywear fair 5 elements in Berlin has been cancelled by organizer, Ocean Media. In an open letter on their website, Andrew Lookman, Event Director of 5 elements, explained that at this point there are not enough manufacturers that registered for the show, originally scheduled for July 3-5, 2011, to realise a meaningful trade fair for bodywear in Germany. Although so far 37 exhibitors with about 65 brands had confirmed their booking, according to Lookman, this won’t guarantee to be an attractive exhibitor portfolio from the perspective of visitors also due to the leading manufacturers of the segments beachwear and lingerie have given the current event a refusal.

Nevertheless, organizers are aiming for a reorganization in order to realise a truly new and future-oriented show event in January of 2012. According to Lookman, organizers are looking for a new location in Berlin with the new fashion show concept becoming international and taking place in Berlin in the surrounding of the Fashion Week.

5 elements was started in summer of 2009 with a new concept in the tradeshow landscape with the idea of adding different but complementary areas to the event, but the concept became more and more uninteresting for potential exhibitors in the areas of wellness, cosmetics and accessories by the dominance of lingerie and beachwear exhibitors.
