After long illness, Günther Giers died yesterday, June 2, at an age of 81 years.
Giers laid the foundation for the success of fashion brand Closed. He led Hamburg-based agency Bellini together with Hans-Joachim Leplow until 2004, before it was transformed into the Closed GmbH with a change in leadership, which was passed on to Gordon Giers and Hans Redlefsen.
Günther Giers brought the original Italian Closed label to Germany, whose iconic jeans modell 'Pedal Pusher' is well known worldwide.
