Sneakers76 is a must-go destination for sneaker and streetwear fans and insiders from all over the world, despite its location in Taranto, a town in Southern Italy, away from major fashion addicted destinations. Constant travelling, street-watching and connections with opinion makers and sneaker heads make this store a hub for finding the coolest and most innovative sneakers and trends. Interview by Maria Cristina Pavarini

What are the current bestsellers and why?
No need to say that sales are influenced by fashion and trends. Our store is an authentic sneaker shop and we do our best in order to offer quality and exclusive products. Among our bestsellers there are mostly special edition sneaker lines such as Adidas Consortium, Asics Family and Friend, Puma Cream, Nike QS + Tier 0, Nike SB QS, Converse 1st String, Diadora Special Program, Reebok Special Program, New Balance Premium SMU, Saucony Premium SMU, Le Coq Sportif Special Program, Karhu Special Program, Vans California, Patrick Ewing, Palace Skateboarding and Jason Markk.

Do people buy according to their favorite brand, style, or impulse?
Sales are much different even if the majority of our clients tend to buy according to their own personal style and taste. The market’s offer is truly wide. For this it is important to emotionally involve the client through top quality products and storytelling.

Where do you order from? How do you inform yourself about trends? How important is the communication with regular customers? How do you communicate with them?
We make our research by travelling and especially by watching people walking around the streets. We also do it by browsing through the web and checking brands’ anteprimas during tradeshows or visiting companies’ headquarters.
Trade shows are no longer as fundamental as they used to be. Especially in the last 2-3 years they have really faced a slow down. In the past I used to visit, for instance, Seek and Bright. Today I prefer to do most of my research by travelling and meeting sneaker heads from different countries. Everyone sees trade shows. On the contrary, we always try to make independent choices that mostly concentrate on the quality of products.
By working directly with brands we opt for teamwork in order to better understand the new trends. For this we also often collaborate with brands that want to test their launch of new models and shapes or revamp old silhouettes.
Communication with our customers only happens through online nowadays. Every day we organize photo shoots for new products that we are launching. This way we can convey emotions through photos and contents we publish.

What are the most important trends, in general?
New trends change according to brands. Some of them bet on some classic models and others employ most advanced new technologies.

Did you add any new labels to your assortment?
We have just added two new brands - Karhu and Le Coq Sportif.

How does your store differ from other stores?
In the last ten years of this store’s life and within my 20 years of experience in the sneaker market we have tried to be as much independent as possible in order to offer our customers the best products available on the market. Almost all the brands we sell come to our store and ask us to sell their most exclusive and hard-to-find models through our store and distribution channels in order to be sold in the Italian market.

What do you like about your customers?
Their passion above all. Every week we receive visits by friends and clients coming from every part of the world - despite we are based far away from most important cities’ store game. We appreciate all the support coming from our friends and customers.

How important is the interior, the atmosphere and the whole package?
Fundamental is the atmosphere in our store since we treat our customers in a familiar and at the same time professional way. For those who are not visiting us personally we try to recreate our same DNA on our website. When you enter Sneakers76 you understand at once that you are inside a true sneakers shop.
