The Gallery Düsseldorf has ended recently. Reason enough for a conversation with Ulrike Kähler, who was appointed Managing Director of the Igedo Company with sole power of representation on January 1. In her new position, Kähler is responsible for the exhibition strategy and marketing areas of the Düsseldorf trade fair platforms Gallery and Gallery Shoes.

What do you want to change at your new position?
It’s not about change, it’s about constantly building up and adjusting to meet the needs of the market.
If not your current job, what would you do in another life?
I would be even more politically active.
Where do you prefer to buy - apart from the brand?
From stores in my neighbourhood. Supporting small and medium-sized business is very important to me here too.
How would you describe your clothing style?
Classic and modern with a fancy touch.
Quite spontaneously: What is the favourite item of clothing that you own?
My cosy cashmere sweater…
What was your first pair of jeans?
A pair of Wranglers when I was 16…
What was your worst fashion sin ever?
A denim suit with floral print.
What part of it did you last separate from?
I got rid of it one season later.
Which part or product is at the top of your wish list?
I’ve been looking for a sleek ladies’ business suit for two years now.
Who is your favourite designer?
Jil Sander was the best for me.
What don’t you like about the fashion industry?
The fact that it is run without politics.
