Nike presents new running shoes and apparel Innovations

On Tuesday, July 16, sportswear brand Nike introduced a few new innovations and product highlights during an event in the company’s global headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Nike’s new running shoe Free Flyknit combines the brand’s extremely popular Flyknit technology with its “Free” running sole, rendering the shoe barefoot-like wearing properties while still being supportive.

Another new running model is the Nike Free Hyperfeel. Based on scientific research, an accurate placement of cushioning and traction zones on the outer sole of the shoe allows for an especially flat profile, offering padding and support at the right spots. The Free Hyperfeel features a Lunarlon inner sole with flexible hacks in it.

In terms of apparel, Nike has launched its new Aeroloft technology, which aims to keep runners warm in cold temperatures but not heat them up too much. As a first product incorporating this innovation, the Aeroloft 800 down vest contains a lightweight isolating layer including laser-cut perforations which allow body heat to escape between the down chambers. The vest features Dri-FIT inserts on the sides and shoulders to benefit the breathability of the garment while a ripstop nylon facilitates durability.

All newly launched products follow Nike’s design mantra Nature Amplified, which focuses on the body’s natural courses of movement, leaning on scientific data and athletes’ experiences.
Mark Parker, president and CEO of NIKE Inc, said at the event” “Innovations are not developed for ends in themselves but they are about making improvements, i.e. to design and develop with a concrete aim in your mind. The running segment is Nike’s heart, here we constantly deliver new innovations, which carry the enterprise into the future.”
