show report: 19,250 Visitors at CPM Moscow

Collection Première Moscow (CPM) took place from September 5-8, closing on Saturday with record figures. 19,250 visitors came to the expo-center fair grounds, which boasted 1,520 collections from 36 countries across an exhibition space measuring up to 54,250 sqm, making the 19th CPM the largest trade fair to date.

The Fashion & Denim area featured casualwear and denim collections that were displayed along custom-built stands, made possible by the section’s move to Hall 3. Highlights included street artists, a daily catwalk show and a shirt-painting event at the Desigual booth, which was also serving cool drinks and fruit. Many of the most important retailers were in attendance and placing direct orders, such as Moscow’s Mavi Jeans Managing Director D. Kaan Pasin, who commented, “We are making good contacts here.” Tom Tailor’s Representative Director for Greater Russia Sofia Kofmann added, “We have to be present as CPM. Fashion is important and retailers are looking for new collections.” Established labels weren’t the only ones; newcomers like Blue Fire Jeans were also happy to be part of the fair. The label’s distribution manager Mario Siebert remarked, “We had four important chain retailers within two hours on our booth.”

Elsewhere, the Body & Beach segment was a positive experience for the exhibiting companies as well, with the Lingerie, Beach and Homewear area generating high visitor traffic. The children’s area was expanded to 5,220 sqm with Italxwas taking center stage as the biggest international joint stand with 75 kid’s brands and its own catwalk show. According to CPM Project Director Christian Kasch, an even greater selection of international market leaders will be taking part at next season’s 20th anniversary edition, set to take place from February 26-March 1, 2013.
