Gant is now a scent. The US-founded, Swedish-owned brand is launching a men’s fragrance today that will be sold exclusively at Gant stores worldwide and on the company’s own e-commerce sites. The launch marks the complete reboot and restart of Gant’s global fragrance business.

Inspired by the fresh smell of the sea and the woody odor associated with well-aged boats, the cologne was developed in cooperation with Pierre Wulf of Robertet, a well-known perfumer and natural scent expert. Its bottle, consisting of solid blue glass with a retro cap made from bakelite plastic to reflect Gant’s 62-year-old history, was created by Pierre Dinand, a perfume-bottle designer who has also created the vessels for such fragrances as Calvin Klein’s “Obsession” and “Eternity” and YSL’s “Opium.” The glass portion is meant to resemble wicker baskets transported by cargo ships.

In the US, the fragrance will retail for $65 for 1.7 oz and $89.50 for 3.4 oz. In addition, for a limited time customers in the US will receive a .5 oz bottle for free.
