The European Fashion Award was handed out for the seventh time now during the international sporting goods trade show Ispo in Munich. A jury consisting of international design, industry, marketing, and media experts selected the winners out of 84 students enrolled at 46 universities in 17 countries. The title “Attention please” dealt with the questions about what beauty is, the meaning of fashion in our consumption community and if there are any dreams left in our minds. All participants tried to find answers to these questions and show them in their collections.

The winners in the categories ‘students’ and ‘graduates’ were announced during Ispo on Feb. 6. The 1st prize in the student category was awarded to Stephanie Höcker (4th semester, University of Applied Science, Bielefeld) for her womenswear collection “Surreale Momente” (Formed Again). She created completely new patterns with the help of a special form of picture puzzles, called anamorphosis. According to the jury, her dresses seemed like a part of surrealistic artwork. The winner of the graduate category was Annika Tutsch (Bachelor, Pforzheim University). In her womenswear collections “Geschmacksverstärker” (Taste Enhancer) extremely overdrawn features were combined with fine, subtle insinuations (see picture above). “Perfection is a question of attention,” Annika Tutsch stated in her concept.

We hope to see more designs of these talented girls in the future…
