Brooks Brothers unveiled its new younger, more casual-based retail concept in New York yesterday. Called The Brooks Brothers Flatiron Shop, the 7,200-sq.-foot (669sqm) store has three levels and is located on Broadway and 20th Street in the so-called Flatiron District. It is a mere two blocks south on Broadway from where the now 193-year-old brand operated a flagship from 1884 to 1915. In 1915 it relocated to its current flagship store on Madison Avenue and 44th Street.

Offering casual interpretations of the brand’s most iconic pieces, the new store caters to men and women and offers campus-inspired items such as slim fit button-down oxfords, patterned sports shirts, tennis sweaters, rugby shirts, distressed hoodies, rugby-shirt dresses, cable-knit sweater dresses and plaid skirts. The store also sells casual suiting and furnishings.

The shop features an Ivy League-inspired décor and will be the model for additional Flatiron stores, which will be rolled out nationally and internationally.

It is Brooks Brothers’ seventh store in Manhattan. The company, which is privately owned, currently has more than 200 stores in the US and 70 other countries.
