Corwick Group & Levy Canada, that also owns Moose Knuckles, gets an offspring with the new outerwear label Biannual. The brand is 100% vegan. Instead of using real leather or down, each coat is made with “Supremeloft,” which is an exclusive Biannual fill with recycled cashmere. Not only is the material naturally water-resistant, but it’s comparably lighter and more resilient than traditional fillings.

Steph Hoff, Creative Director, Moose Knuckles explained the motivation to start a new brand: "What we noticed is that there is this younger, millennial consumer that is obsessed with aspirational fashion imagery from brands like Maison Margiela, Acne Studios, and Vetements, but some of them have never walked inside a designer boutique in their lives. We’re talking about an internet generation that is tumbling, snapchatting, and instagramming Dior and J.W. Anderson without actually purchasing it… So, we decided to make a brand for these young aspirationalist. We envisioned a product that is every bit as well made as designer goods, but with a sustainable and socially conscience approach, and an accessible price point and distribution strategy."

The collection shows gender-less silhouettes. Key coats are multi-use; reversible or modular -featuring zip-off sleeves and removable faux fur trims.

Dani Roche, Creative Director, Biannual: “There is a need for us to be more conscious about what we are wearing, and Biannual satisfies that need as it is a vegan brand that is functional as well as fashionable. I want a coat that is thoughtful as well as warm. There's nothing that I've found in the market that has a cool silhouette at an accessible price point."

Prizes for the Biannual collection from $235 - $675. Roche: "Biannual offers a little bit of everything: A holistic melding of millennial ideals - sustainability, fashion, function - as well as core messages rooted in social consciousness and awareness about the world at large. Biannual engages a spectrum of niche identities - skaters, it-girls - to support ideas about my generation's ability to be modular and multi-disciplinary. Mirrored in the products themselves (which are multi-purpose and adaptable), Biannual is a modern brand that is versatile in gender, season, and purpose. Much like my career, which has seen twists and turns over the years, I understand Biannual to be a reflection of my journey for personal growth and enlightenment."
