Aurelyen, founder and designer of Misericordia
Sometimes, personal journeys can really make a difference and change the course of your life. That’s pretty much what happened to founder & designer of Misericordia Aurelyen while visiting Peru in 2003. Graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he was searching for new cultures and artistic inspirations. While being in the Peruvian capital city of Lima, Aurelyen and his friend Mathieu Reumaux met a small team of workers, gathered some rudimental sewing machines and created a jackets collection. Back in France, Misericordia’s founder presented these pieces at various trade shows and awoke interest of international stores like Colette or Baycrews. Encouraged by some fashion decision-makers and motivated by friends, he starts the Misericordia label.

The brand produces the integrality of the collections in Peru, with Peruvian labor force and materials, contributing to the local economy and participating in the broadcasting of Peruvian culture around the world. Fundamental values of Misericordia are human rights, environment and the respect of fair trade principles. Aurelyen leads a team of 40 sewers in the vast laboratory of creation that he has set up in Lima: La Cabaña de Alta Costura Misericordia. Main materials employed in the ready-to-wear collections are baby-Alpaca wool, Modal, Pyma cotton and organic cotton.
